I recommend VLC. All the codecs you could possibly need come with the player already.

Hmm, you already know it's MPEG2 and haven't figured out you need an MPEG2 codec? (a DVD-program will play the file, btw, for example PowerDVD). Generally speaking I tend to stay away from codec-packs, but FFDShow is the one I would use if I had to.
2004-0725 is the latest version of that.
I personally use separate codecs: divx, xvid, mpeg2 + ac3 for audio and have yet to come across a file that wouldn't work on my system.

It took me five minutes to figure out i needed a mpeg2 codec. Thats why its so frustrating. hear is a list of progs i am running.
FFDshow - Not working
Ac3 audio - Yeah ! sound
DivX - nothing
GSpot - nice program - dosn't help with some mpeg2 files.
Elcard Mpeg2 player - nothing.
Virtual Dub - part sucses, sound and crap picture (no full screen)
i not sure how binaries work so i havent realy used any !
See what i mean about frustrating ! ! !
