Can you watch half downloaded .avi's ?

Post by Empire Earth2 » 2005-01-18 02:34

I was wondering, if you half downloaded a video shouldn't you be able to watch the half you downloaded? Or do you have to download it all?

Thanks

DC++ doesn't have a preview function built in, but you can open incompleted video files in any decent player. Depending on the video type, it will either play as it is, you might have make a copy and change the extention, or worst case use avifix to clean up the headers after renaming it.

So basicly take a half downloded movie and name it randomthing.avi and it should play in a player (Windows midea player)?

Probably not Windows Media Player as it cannot play some incomplete media types.

Don't bother renaming or copying just use VideoLan to preview your incomplete files.
Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

I tryed useing AviPreview and it lets me see the video of the half downloaded .avi file, but not the sound. Any way to fix that?

I'm going to try VideoLan next if it doesn't work or get fixed.

Vildeolan (VLC) lets you see it under any circumstances. Any incompletes can be seen using it.
