I am new to DC++ and unsure of the format that i should be using for my music files. I have loads of different kinds such as mp3, ogg and at various speeds. Can any one help me, by telling me the best speed and format for sharing so i don't upset anyone downloading my files. Any help or advice would be greatly apprieciated.

Share them in whatever format they came in. Transcoding reduces quality and is a bad thing.

Hmm, mp3 is a good one, but bitrate should be at least 192 and full stereo.
Ogg Vorbis is also a good one, but not so widespread.
For lossy, Musepack is the best, however, files are sized like 256k MP3s and sound great.
For lossless, you definitely need FLAC, cause it has ReplayGain support and is widely supported by various players.

Thankyou for replying, helps a lot. One more thing, my personal cd's, i am just starting to put them in my computer using my media player, do you reccommend windows media audio or should i use mp3 format (does it make a difference), I was thinking mp3 at 192kb myself, as that seems the most commonly used. Thanx again for your replies.
