setting up DC++ ????

Post by geo_g » 2006-02-09 18:13

Hi , can someone please help , I have loaded DC++ 0.674 onto my computer and have a US Robotics USR9003 modem/router , it has a built in firewall , anyway , when I use DC++ I cant do any search or download from anyone but users can download from me , Ive opened a port (I think ive done opned one correctly anyway) theough my router i.e.:- Firewall>NAT>Port Range Mapping , I have a few options

Public Address :- ( I can only go with whats there and cant manually add to it)

Public Port from :- ive added a port to use with DC++

Public Port to :- ive added a port to use with DC++

LocaL Address: Im not sure what to put in here , is it the router ip addy or my ISP addy , I have a dynamic IP address that changes everythime windows is rebooted

Local Port From : ive added a port to use with DC++

Local Port To: ive added a port to use with DC++

Protocol : TCP

do I add the same port number for each of the "Port to" and "Port from" fields ? then save and re-enter the same details but changing TCP to UDP

ok now for DC++ itself ..... If I click Active mode what IP goes in the field , as I stated earlier I have a dynamic IP that changes like the wind lol plus the ports fileds have to be the same as my routers "Port to" and "Port from" fields ?

I know you guys will know what to do , but im new to this and any help or advice would be really welcome

much appreciated

i have read that active mode is the done thing so I hope someone can help me setup that way
