dc++ uploading too fast

hi i have an external harddrive that i download my stuff... it's ok when it's downloadin at like 4-5mb/s... but when it's uploadin at 4+ mb/s, the computer starts laggin (like i can't watch a movie or use the internet cuz it's so slow) and then after a while the laptop overheats and shuts down... i was wondering if there was any way to slow down the upload, i set the upload line to 0.01, but still it uploads so fast... thnx

that sounds more like a hardware problem, you harddrive is spinning too fast and using up system resources, try setting it to a lower speed within your device manager

I would try and solve your heat problem before worrying about DC uploading to fast, try blowing the dust out or get one of those laptop coolers. One of the simplest options is to close DC when you are watching a movie. You can also try limiting your upload slots (as long as you still have enough to comply with hub rules) so limit the amount you are uploading at any one single time.

If you often transfer at high speeds, you might want to consider changing your socket write buffer and socket read buffer sizes in advanced -> experts only. These sizes are also used for the buffer for reading from disk when uploading, and reading large blocks is much more efficient. I'm on 100mbit, and have mine set to 524288 (512kb). Alternatively, use a client that supports bandwidth limiting or use a third-party bandwidth limiting solution.
