Sorry m8, aol aint your friend, watch ya data and where you go, they watch you and track you, they profile you and SPAM you, their privacy statement is laughable and the chatclient at best is insecure and you soon find that they double charge you on your credit card and then you have a 12 month battle to get a refund, only for it to happen again while your waiting for the refund, nice little marketing and keep hold of the customer tacktic that is.

Thats why AOL Sucks and Blows.

Yeah I mean hell it took me two weeks just to cancel my account, and even then I had to bitch for 30 minutes( no I don't want to change the my payment plan, no I don't want your wireless solution, no I don't want to explain why i'm so pissed off, no I don't want to listen to your god damn other shit just cancel it)

Even then they still billed me next month.

Too bad I wrote down my cancelation number.

Yup sick bastards as well, a freind of mine died a few months ago and his surviving family, his brother also my friend has his estate to settle... AOL kept charging his credit card even tho they were informed that my friend had died and theyre still waiting some 9 months on for £44.97 that they had charged to the credit card company who were also aware that my friend was no longer with us.

So even when your toes have curled up they still have a go.

You must switch to a real provider, they are the biggest scam on the planet. Their are just to many lamers coming from them, we don't need anymore as I'm happy hanging around with just a few cool folks. AOL is heavily advertised, their service is next to crap and because most use it, all think its good. That's a fact, no doubt about it.

I use AOL Broadband for 41.99 a month.

I love it. Absolutely rock solid, over 600kb per second.

I get sick of people bad mouthing AOL. There BB/Dial up Service is easy as hell to understand and its never down. The only complaint I have is there front end software sucks and your connection is routed through a cloud of crap.


Oh and I NEVER get spam on AOL +. Ever.......i dont know what the hell your smoking DF. But mail SPAM is never a problem. Chatroom Bots are another story. But I use ICQ, mIRC anyway.

You're being a bit ripped off at 41.99 a month, when i left i was paying £27.99 a month for it. I never had any complaints, but then i couldn't keep my FTP site up and running 24/7 though as AOL would spike my connection every 4 hours and stop anything running on the FTP site... I'm now playing with NTL and my connection is stable and running 24/7 now!!!
