what does this .hdr file do?

what does this .hdr file do?

I downloaded Taken - [1x01] Beyond The Sky - [XviD] - [fov].avi (811MB) :?: and at same time I got a Taken - [1x01] Beyond The Sky - [XviD] - [fov].avi.hdr (64Kb) file.
I'm not able to view the avi file, is it me or do I need to use this hdr file for some reason??

No idea. Perhaps you should ask the person you downloaded it from. They are likely to know.
