Ok, my problem has to do with.. I download a video file it says AVI. I tried to play it on Windows Media Player and it said.. Windows has encountered an unknown error.. I don't know what that means, but if anyone would know how to fix it or if I have to download a certain codec please tell me... or also suggest a different media player that I can play stuff off of that certainly will be helpful thank you.

could mean the file is corrupted or you need a codec

download this program and open the .avi with it

gspot will tell you what codecs are needed or if the file is corrupt

also make sure the file is complete, i got a lot of trouble with that coz files werent complete...
