Filtering my Port

I have DC++ running on my box and a linksys router with DC++ in active mode. I'm sure this has been posted ...but I couldn't find it. Anyway I am forwarding my incoming connection to a certain port configured through the router. Everthing works great....but the port is wide open when I check it on GRC.com. How do I close that port or filter it to be in stealth mode?

If you want to use DC++ while having it in stealth mode you can't ( at least while DC++ is in active mode) but if you meen when DC++ is closed I think you should look into a software firewall.

Yes ...I want to be able to use DC++ (in active mode) and still have that port stealth. Is this impossible....if not...how is it possible through passive mode?On my router... I forwarded all DC++ through port 2000. But when scanned with GRC.com it is wide open. Am I at danger doing this? My firewall is in complete stealth while the program is closed. Is it possible to gain access through my cpu on port 2000 while it is open?

Active mode means that other will be able to connect to you, thus you can not be in stealth mode. In passive mode you have to initiate all comunication thus you can be in stealth mode.
As for being in danger, if you have a software firewall (you should anyway to prevent unknown applications from accessing the network) it should close the port when DC++ isn't running and now you would be in stealth mode (while DC++ is closed).

Thank you for your time to answer my questions.I very much appreciate it. My last question is ....What is the difference between active and passive modes and which should I be in. It seemed to me that I couldn't connect to certain people in passive mode but in active I can. But I liked the fact that even while downloading I had stealth with my firewall on that port(passive mode).

Active mode means that other users can connect to you to get files, while in passive mode you have to connect to all (both to get files and to those who want's to download from you) thus you can't download from other passive users. In active mode you get search results directly from other users while in passive mode all search results go thru the hub (you connect to the hub when you go online) and this is not liked by the hub owners (too much bandwidth). In short if you can be active, passive is a if nothing else works solution.
