After downloading an avi file my players wont play it? I have tried media player 9, divx, vivtv and elecard. Anyone know why?

Most likely a corrupt file (or even fake file). Find a program called DIVFIX and see if it can fix it.

You might also want to check the codecs, ffdshow and ac2filter should allow you to watch every movie, provided they're ok and not corrupted.
