Napoleon?

Post by Dent » 2006-05-15 13:15

Hello!

Why is it that some dc contributors and moderators in this forum seem more intressted in showing how cool they are and how they can split and lock and tell you what you cant do and how bad you do stuff than really helping?

Very arrogant tone also. Seams you are stupid for asking when you dont know.

How about some public relations exercises?

Well, you entered your thread in the wrong sub-forum... How about reading each sub-forum's caption? Oh, well...

Most people asking for help etcetera here have 1) not read the FAQ that has been set up, 2) not read the help file that has been set up or 3) not searched through the forum/bugzilla for a similar entry.

How about some personal responsibility from the people asking for help?

Ok

Why do people do those things?
Lack of information or are people simply stupid?

Maybe the last...

Could be normal... The people are looking for help cuz they dont know how to act. And you would have to be patient I guess.
Its not so easy to look thru the faq when you really dont know what to look for. Maybe you dont even know how a forum works by the way...

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Where should I have posted?

Didnt think specificly in you Ullner btw...
Thumbs up

Which can be a little difficult (and disheartening) especially when you see the same thing over and over and over again. For years. Especially when we do this for free in our spare time.

But I'll try to read the faq first.

The problem is that people doesn't use their brain. They expect everyone else to do things for them. I sometimes wonder how these people can get up from their bed, eat or even tie their shoe lace.

I don't see any reason why locking posts or splitting them would be mutually exclusive with helping the users in question.

Have you been a part of a tech support community, either as an end-user or a contributor, that you would like us to take a look at? I'm not completely happy with how we handle things, but I think we do pretty well. People who help here are appreciated. All the ones who have stayed (and thus are helpful) around have been given moderator status, but we haven't had anyone to add recently.

Dent: without split/lock/prune it would be a mess. It is hard to administer such a high-traffic forum and there are dumbasses that make it even harder. Even though the manner is a bit weird (yes, it is), the forum is still being kept clean. If knew the rules, you would admit that this is plain rule enforcement.

Whatever your message is, I think it's a little too suble... Unless it's language specific? A.K.A. "I don't understand."

I don't deny it's a high-traffic forum, but there are even more busy ones. But it's the first forum I had to create my third account. To be honest I can remember maybe 1 event when I lost forum account. So is it me breaking some rules all the time or some extreme punishment loving moderators or there is such a short time before account get's cleaned up???

probably autopruning is on and set quite low....
there are phpBB forums with 3,5 million users but they don't autoprune the useraccounts. it's slow like hell :(
You can send a message around the world in 1/7 of a second; yet it may take several years to move a simple idea through a 1/4 inch of human skull.

If so it's set quite quite very low... besides if someone is continuously logging into account whats the deal to prune his account anyway?

anyway I'm not for extreme solutions in the other way also.

If you break the guidelines, your account will be gone in a jiffy. Usually because of this.

Yes, you keep breaking the policy against helping people infringing copyight. The last post by you that I remember talked about the downloading of anime and crc32 checking against a checksum in the filename.

Once we know or suspect that you're infringing copyright, I dectivate your account.
