Guys, when you link someone to the FAQ, could you put a short explanation of why? I'm not sure the lone URLs do your talents justice.

Indeed.

I'm just trying to avoid users thinking that we're being short with them, etc. Or that they're being a burden, for asking for support.

Mostly true. But sometimes it's not always obvious why the contents of a link are relevent, given a particular set of symptoms. A "Your problem is X. Look here for solutions ..." type line might cover that.

I don't think anyone likes others being short with them, even when they're at fault. Doing that is pretty typical of the open source community, and I think it reflects badly on us (those involved in DC++ in any respect) as well as open source in general.

I'd love for people to a paragraph or two explaining things to users, but I'm not asking for that - I'm asking for a short explanation instead of just a plain url.
