And they're picking up speed. At this rate we'll have 10 a day by the end of next week. Has anyone seen any patch or something for phpBB that can stop this?

This is something that Garg could throw in to help a bit in the fight, looks pretty simple and effective at this moment in time.

I see they changed tactic sooner than expected. Now they're not even pretending to be a regular user, just mass-spamming as hard as possible.. 27 spam threads.

Doubt it would help, since they seem to be auto-registering without trouble, and can spam a lot of threads in a few minutes before we can get rid of the user =(

This forum has one at registration, but perhaps it's been defeated. Those letters seem very easy to read, they're usually a lot harder. But i have no idea if that means this one is better or worse than others

Is that the first thing you found, or something you recommend?

I'll have to install EasyMod at some point, since it would make applying things like that much easier.

One technique was changing around the case and podition and names of the input boxes on the registration form, but I don't know if that is outdated now.

I was hoping he captcha would help. As is, I've gotten two emails from users who couldn't read it... probably to be expected, since I don't have a way to positively tell that it is effective.

I read through phpbb for about 30 minutes. Nothing looked as useful or got as much good feedback as that one. It did happen to be stickied I think.
