Would anyone be interested in doing the rewarding work of cleaning up the sf feature request tracker of items that are already implemented, close / categorize uncategorized items, remove items that are on the won't implement list etc?
I have an ms access database dump of all current tracker items for fast and easy browsing...

However I should let you know that I will be leaving the country on Wednesday and will not be back until late January. I will have no computer access during that time.

Well, the only point is to find old feature requests that users haven't re-posted since the purge last year... But this optimism about finding "a diamond in the rough" is... idealistic.

Sidenote, is Iceman still happy with being the person who gets an email whenever a tracker item is entered?

sure, iceman is still working, but it's quite a bit of work there...or...ask him not me, he's quite autonomous =)
on a side note, tag implemented features as closed, not deleted...that way, users can potentially see the features that have been implemented on request etc...and let priorities be, the different colors annoy me and encourage users to use them, which is something I don't want...the same thing for assigning features to someone, I only use it when I'm done with a bug/feature, then I can quickly close all fixed stuff on release...

I know I've been a bit heavy handed with closing things. I know when I step on your toes, you will let me know.

And for the rejects, should I keep them all open, or just one per rejected feature (in the case of multiple different requests)?

oh, no, by all means, the more you close the better...rejects, well, if there's a corresponding item in the rej.feat. tracker, just close the one in the feat's...

I've only now started looking at the file I got and I have two comments to make.

The first is that the file was incomplete and didn't have the </artifacts>
and </project_export> closing tags. I have added them. While this makes it structurally sound, there may be data missing.

The second is that I have zero idea how to process the raw XML data in a way that allows me to search/filter/sort/summarise/etc it. Help!

They're two programs arne wrote - one to let you convert the XML backup into an access database and another app to browse it.

Neither are really polished enough for me to just give you a binary of (hardcoded paths at least)... I'll wait for arne to do that or drop you the source - I don't know whether I'm supposed to give them out or not.
