Requesting a new feature, encrypted packets.

Hey guys I have been a fan of DC++ for long and have been using it for like 5 years now, but recently with isps everywhere traffic shaping, there seems to be a need to evade it.

Is there anyway the developers will consider using encrypted packets like azureas/uTorrent for Bittorent ? It seems to be able to bypass speed throttling.

DC++ has builtin SSL support. And have had for some time. The SSL will be used in the ADC framework and the support is added as time goes by.

My ISP (Pipex) has seemingly also recently implemented throttling on P2P networks 24 hours a day. I have a 512/256 kbits/s ADSL connection (soon to be 1536/256 kbits/s) but I can't download anything greater than 20kByte/s when using DC++ alone at any one time anymore, now. - The flow has definately been capped as the global download rate of DC++ fluctuates around 20kByte/s. I haven't any bandwidth limiters installed, nor changed any settings in DC++ (I used to be able to download >59kByte/s using DC++, which properly reflected the 0.5mbps connection).

Is there anything I can do? It's a major peev.

For what it's worth (as background info), I don't use a router (only a USB modem), and my firewall is from Windows XP SP2.

Vote with your wallet? Pay and support an ISP that doesn't limit traffic? Perhaps even go so far as to write a letter to said ISP upon your joining them.

ADC hubs do let ADC clients connect to each other with SSL. Getting around ISP restrictions isn't really the point of it, though.

Thanks, my ISP (Pipex) and connection have been rock-solid for years, just that they've introducing the crippling P2P throttling very recently.
I wanted to check if I could do anything with Ports and other settings in DC++ before I go through the hassle of changing to another ISP.

I used to be with pipex, and also noticed the 20kb/s cap, on everything except http, ftp and encrpyted torrents.
