Slot Size Types

Post by foxyshadis » 2004-05-23 13:55

I didn't see this on search, but I'm not really sure what to search for either.

Right now, "small files" get a free download, pretty much. What I would like is greater control of slots along that vein - 100 unlisted slots for throwaway "small files", 5 slots for "medium" (user configurable, but I'd keep it around .5 M to 10 M), and 1-2 slots for "large" (10 M and up). All of it could be configured, with a minimum of one each. The only problem is the potential for abuse, and the difficulty in detecting abuse from outside given only a single slot field. Keeping it in an advanced tab might be a wise idea.

I just find it annoying and undemocratic for people who download movies or isos to take up all slots for 2-5 hours a download, while those who want music, images, or other medium-sized files get locked out. A slow connection and preference toward music probably influence my feeling, though.

Those suggestions are mirrors of those in a few requests in the official feature tracker. :)
