Autoslot
I think that a really nice feature to have would be the ability to autoslot. It would be great if there was a list in the program that I could add people to that DC++ would automatically grant slots to. I get tired of having to repeatedly grant slots to friends or ops in a room and would love to just add them to my auto grant slot list and DC++ automatically grant them a slot when they want to dowload something from me.

This would ROCK!
Man this would allow alot of users to not have to beg for a slot.
I have seen some people asking for this feature as well.

I think the upload code was intended to let ops download even when slots are full. At least there's something in the if statement that backs that up.
/me wonders if it's broken.

I have no computer right now, so can't verify this, but what's the use of favorite users currently? I don't even think you can see them anywhere?
What about adding another "hubview" where only favorite users are. Messages in "virtual hub" is sent by PM to those in "hub" (only DC++ users) and they could be marked for autogrant simply by rightclicking user and "auto-grant". Save auto-grant in favorites.xml or wherever favorite users are saved.
What do you think?? =)

There's a favorite user manager, so I just changed it to have checkboxes like the favorite hub manager.
Like I said, I already have a patch for this. Arnetheduck just wants it done a bit differently - not using a User::List in the HubManager, but instead a smaller more lightweight class. The bool for indicating auto-granting shouldn't be a part of the UserManager list, it could add to size needlessly. That's a paraphrasing of his concerns.

"Slot Autogrant" List
Keeping this thread alive, as it's exactly what several users and I have been discussing! =)
The implementation Arne, GargoyleMT and others seem to be leaning toward is a list in a separate window, similar to the DL queue window, showing only users you wish to autogrant slots to. I think it would be a nice visual change, too, since all other windows like to stretch as far across the screen as you'll let them, regardless of how tall they are.
No mention seems to be made of a limit, however. I would ideally NOT want 50 ppl DLing from me due to favorites auto-granting. I would, however, like to be able to control the limit.
It would be nice to show info such as "last connected", slots, share size, etc, but I don't know what impact it would have on hub traffic.
Glad it's been considered for near release. Here's one more hope that we see it!

Auto-granting does not "lock" slots. Not the way I think of it, nor have implemented it.

Well, the Favorite Users window is currently... useless. It literally does nothing. I changed it to have checkboxes (to conrol granting) like the Favorite Hubs window, as well as adding some additional columns. I didn't give it the full treatment of extending it to be totally useful, just enough to fill my needs.
Although a limit to granted slots might be nice, it's really meant to be used sparingly. Right now, there's only two users on my list who are auto-granted slots, and one is a 56k user. Sparingly, as a last resort or perk. If "# of granted slots" is controllable, it will effectively recreate the slot system for "elite" users. Plus hub ops whose rules depend on "maximum slots' will want it advertised.
