searching for alternatives problem

Post by Wisp » 2003-07-14 16:14

(i couldn't think of a short topictitle for this thread)

when i click on "search for alternatives" the search window will popup and it will begin searching right away, this is very annoying because in many cases i want to change some parameters of the search window, like checking the "only users with free slots" and sometimes changing the filesize or name

so it would be great if there was an option to not start directly with searching, but only popup the search window, and allow the users to start the search

I don't have dc++ in front of me at the moment, but can't you just redefine some of the parameters and click on search, again?

I usually include all users, with or without slots, because they could have their slot free before the download is finished (esp. large files).

yep, that's what i do now, but there are 2 problems

1. when it starts searching for the file right away, dc tries to download all the matches, but since most people have no slots, this results in a long list of "connecting" and "no free slots" in my transfer window

2. most hubs allow you to only search once in 5 or 10 seconds, so you have to wait a while till you can search again (not a very big problem, but it's quite annoying sometimes) :)
