It sparked an idea
Why not have the hub perform like the no-ip.org servers do? In my simple yet optimistic mind, I see the hubs having a list like:
Code: Select all
jbyrd.dc++.com -> 69.201.51.89
*handle.dc++.com-> xx.xxx.xx.xxThis could possibly be used as a type of spoofing for search replies.
This could possibly also be used as a return address for packet requests.
This could possibly be used for something else! LOL.
My concern is that IP fetching tools could somehow resolve the no-ip type address and obtain the external IP anyhow. Is there anyway around this?
Also, would this place too much burden on the hubs? I *assume* that it isn't that taxing on bandwidth, but it could definately add up on large hubs.
My thought is that someone smarter than me could come up with something much more clever if searches and packet requests were to go through the hubs, but, who knows? Just thought I'd throw it out there to my fellow peers.
I was hoping that someone with more protocol knowledge would be willing to lay my idea to rest and tell me that it is no good and won't work. It would just give me peace of mind. Feel free to chastise. I'm a man. I can take it!
Thanks.
