I think that you should only be able to download/upload at then speed that is shown on you connecton speed. :!:

That will teach the A$$s on T3 that desplay there connection as 56.6K :twisted:

if you look back in the forum a bit, you would notice that its already been discussed that the current way of showing bw isn't ideal. there really isn't enough to choose from, and dsl can mean anything from like 128kbit to 8mbit.

It's trivial, actually. I've been programming since the birth of Jesus. Well, actually, I invented the computers, then I programmed them. However, recently, I've been into other things, like managing companies and sowing discontent. Perhaps one of you lesser beings can do this trivial piece of coding for me?

It seems pointless to ask for this kind of feature. The code is open source, and anyone could just cut that code out, making it pointless. This board is more for features to make dc++ interface/protocol better (at least I assume it is).

its alot easier to change a dropdown box then to learn how to compile dc++, and I doubt most people would care enough about their real connection displaying to learn

But those people who want to discourage downloads from them certainly would be motivated moreso than normal users. This can be done with my throttling code and some tying into the dropdown in the General settings. However, Arne doesn't like throttling code, so it won't (very likely) become a part of DC++ any time soon, even if only to limit to the speeds set in the connection box... (the only viable option, really, is limiting to 56k and ISDN speeds if they pick those - DSL and cable vary too widely to pick one number)... Then the abusers will just pick the next speed up.
