Unintelligent queue manager

Post by KeyOh » 2003-11-24 16:46

Ok, here's the thing:
DC++ lacks something really important, a smart queue manager
It should be possible to make a lower limit for download speeds, ex: If a download starts with a speed below, a specified speed, ex 10kb/s the connection automatically closes down. So that a faster connection could be established. Would be very usefull when downloading a large file, while you are away

When you have a long list of possible download users, the users dc++ knows have free slots, should be higher prioritated. DC++ can find out who, by constantly searching for the file

Thanks. The minimum-download-speed feature has been requested in the tracker multiple times - I know I've closed a lot of duplicates. There's even a thread here (aged only a couple of days differently from your own) about it...

Ditto with free slots. DC++ cannot know who has free slots unless you just got a search hit back from them, it's not part of the protocol. Searching repeatedly wastes the bandwidth of the hub and other users (bandwidth is the limiting factor in large hubs, so it makes sense to minimize, not increase, use of it.)

Keep the suggestions coming, just check for duplicates beforehand! (comment to an existing thread)
