Disconnect multiple users from the same IP?

With the addition of the IP display, I've discovered that I've had more than one user on the same IP downloading files from me at the same time. This prevents other users from other IPs from getting a slot, and I've taken to disconnecting them when I see them, however, I'd like to see a feature implemented that prevents this from happening at all.

What do others here think of this?

I don't, Several universities are behind NAT, they can have 1000 of users behind a single IP. It would not be friendly to only allow one of them to download from you.

I agree with fusbar. Some users from duplicate IPs are abusers, but there are a larger number (though you may not encounter them) of university users. Branding them all as abusers by making an option in DC++ would be bad in my eyes.

I was unaware of that cause of multiple copies of the same IP. In that case, I cannot argue that it's a bad idea.

Indeed, that is the case. In "western" countries there are plenty of assigned IP addresses to go around so the problem is not noticable.

As totally anecdotal examples, my ex university had the first internet node in the UK and it therefore has an entire class A segment to itself. This means that it has plenty of IP addresses available, many of them actually unused.

In contrast, a chinese colleague of mine said that his university (in China) had only one IP address for the entire university.
