DC++ Linux port

Any progress on this project?
I just tested the CVS version and saw some changes. The mailinglist is not that active either.
Tried to downloade some files, it crashes when I want to download files, but filelists works.

Yes, I think we're making progress. We've started a new version of the program that uses plain gtk instead of gtkmm, scons instead of autoconf/automake and libglade. The new version also has a much simpler design, making it much easier to keep the program stable. Like you say, the old program is very buggy... Maybe I should have announced this on the mailing list, most communication has been on irc this far and I'm not sure this is the best way to do it. I'll need to think about this.

Glad to hear that you are using plain gtk instead of gtkmm, I don't like to compile gtkmm sources. Just more to set up.
But autoconf/automake is something I use myself and will in the future. ./configure, make, make install is the unix way

Is the new version in CVS yet?

I am looking for an extremely easy to use version of dc++ for linux. A friend of mine is interested in getting on dc++ but has linux and doesnt know anything about computers so I was wondering is this an idiot proof program to install and use?

There isn't currently a choice between an "extremely easy" and any other version of DC++ for linux. There's only one - and it's being developed, and so isn't ready for end-users like your friend.

If he wants existing DC clients for linux, he/she can try DCGUI/Valknut. It's probably in the package system of his/her linux distribution.

Nope, me and the other developer haven't merged our code yet. Our plan is to merge and upload to the CVS as soon as it becomes usable.

As an update to the scarce information, there's a related thread on Gentoo forums (page 3 or so onward). The port is coming along nicely; quite alpha-ish but pretty stable and usable as it is. And with the latest DC++ ticking inside.
