a very strange problem!!

recently i cant open dc++
i mean i open it and it closes immediately
i tried to reinstall it but it didn't work
what to do?

yeah im getting the same thing with my dc++ software too...this is really strange and begining to annoy me!!! can anyone help us on this?! thanx
ps. i done the whole uninstall and reinstall stuff and even tried system restore but nothing happened...!!

if you firewall it... block remote tcp port 80 and local tcp ports 0-65535 it won't allow it to connect and it won't shut down...a temporary fix but effective until it's fixed

its cause by a corrupt XML that DC++ uses to check for a new version. Blocking access to dcplusplus.sourceforge.net will fix the problem but then you wont be able to access this forum, hopefully the file will be fixed soon.

I had this same problem and fixed it today using another method. I dont know if this is related.

I was planning to modify dc++ but had trouble making it compile. Was mucking around with include paths and ended up with a compile that would abort immediately after connecting to a hub. My client connects to my favourites immediately on startup. I dont use a public hub list generally unless I am looking for new hubs.

With the following compile settings it stopped aborting on startup.

Global Include Settings (Tools->Options): wtlport
DCPlusPlus Include Settings: stlport
Client Include Settings: stlport

NB: In my installation, wtlport and stlport are subdirectories in the main source code directory.

Go figure? Worked for me.

the problem with the XML file has been fixed, DC++ should run normaly, except you wont be able to check what the latest version is from the software.
