Huh?

Post by boze » 2004-10-30 08:57

Did it ever occur to you guys that they may have a legitimate reason to do this? Like saving bandwidth? Or avoiding (some of) the international American-hating hackers from Brazil? Or some other not-so-obvious motivation like making you guys mention Bush's name repeatedly? Why is it that you blame all of your personal problems on the figure of Bush and his surroundings? If Bush is such a legitimate representative of Lucifer then why is he, again, tied with his opponent? Are 50% of the Americans totally stupid? Or are they into some satanic sect? Is the name of this sect the Republican Party?

Funny thing, you guys are able to make this 10**-14 issue important but you chose to totally ignore the also election-related fact that uncle Osama just gave the televised version of his "wise" opinion on whom he thinks the American people should vote - apparently nobody by the way - and the reasons for which this should be done (aired on Aljazeera yesterday). Do you think that he is the voice of reason?

You guys are a bunch of arrogant people that think you know it all, but you don't, I think that you guys are the terrorists!

Yes it has probably saved some small amount of bandwidth. But do you think its good that americans abroad can't visit his site? Before the vote? It might also have backfired since more people might have "clicked" on the links to see if it works for them.. A much better solution would ofcourse to set limits on numbers of connections from abroad. If this desission reflects his politics... well. then.. blah blah rant..

boze wrote: Or avoiding (some of) the international American-hating hackers from Brazil?

If so, then they have clearly been naive and stupid since its as open to attacks now as it was before.

funny thing you mention lucifer. Mixing religion and politics is not a good idea. ;))

Yes, Osama has contributed to DC++ in various ways. The money he ships into the paypal-acocunts of variaous developers makes us economical independent. His goal is to bring the american entertainment industry to their knees. We all know that its run by the international jew-conspiracy corperation.

What? Brazil has an elite team of computer hackers? Seriously? In all honestly i would've thought you would atleast pick a country with sligthly higher computer/internet per citizen rate, like Sweden (go go evil swedish computer haxxors!). Oh btw, it's not American-hating, it's Bush-hating. Don't delude yourself.

boze wrote:If Bush is such a legitimate representative of Lucifer then why is he, again, tied with his opponent?

I agree with fusbar, try to keep religion out of this. But then again, that's always been a bit of a problem for Bush, hasn't it.

boze wrote:Are 50% of the Americans totally stupid? Or are they into some satanic sect? Is the name of this sect the Republican Party?

You said it, not me. However i often think that 90% of all people are totally stupid, not just americans. Sometimes i'm proven wrong, usually i'm not.

boze wrote:Do you think that (uncle Usama) is the voice of reason?

I don't even speak his language, so i really couldn't say. Then again, i can barely understand what Bush says either, and he's supposed to speak english.. i'll just leave that one be.

boze wrote:You guys are a bunch of arrogant people that think you know it all, but you don't, I think that you guys are the terrorists!

Yes, this appears to be a prevailing opinion on "your side" (does not apply to everyone of course). If you don't agree with us, you're a terrorist, and must be invaded. And we can always use the excuse that you might have some WMD somewhere..

I don't believe you're a terrorist however, or even evil, just misguided. I also know that there are many thing i don't know, and probably many subjects i'm completely wrong about. Can you say the same?

The funny thing is...

Post by DiRT » 2004-10-30 17:59

These morons assume it's a conspiracy. It couldn't be a DoS problem or an issue with the domain registrar... No, of course not. George Bush is the devil, remember? The Michael Moore "fact" worshipping crowd can never think that maybe something other than the end of the world is at hand.

Here's what you do... When that stupid message pops up, refuse to follow the link. Instead, go to http://www.celsius4111.com/ and educate yourself on the truth about this election.

Well, if you know how internet worked and HTTP (the protocol that WWW uses) no. The host/server explicitly answers you are not allowed to see this. I have the correct adr to it et.c. I find my way to it.. et.c.

I recomend a first-course in WWW HTTP and INTERNET. ;))

Side-note:
Yes, 9/11 was the worse movie i have ever seen Michael make. But that has nothing todo with this.

Do I have to explain everything?

Post by boze » 2004-10-30 21:42

You guys don't seem to get it. There is no difference between Osama telling me that I should vote for nobody or else he will bomb my ass, or the DC++ staff telling me that I can't vote for Bush or else he will do some other type of evil thing to me as depriving me of my civil rights. Just so you guys don't get the wrong idea:

1 ) I am proud to be American;
2 ) I am quite sure that I am not stupid;
3 ) 50% of the American population is not stupid;
4 ) the Republican Party is not formed by stupid people;
5 ) Bush is not Lucifer’s representative on planet Earth and the is no mass hypnosis taking place;
6 ) Bush appears to not be the smartest guy around, but he did make to the presidency of the USA, which is a at least a notch above making some P2P program;
7 ) yes, I am voting for Kerry because I think that he is the best choice for me;
8 ) your imbecile terrorism just offends me and does not influence my vote; the same goes for Osama’s remarks;
9 ) as foreigners, as I assume that you are, I think that the best candidate for you is Bush and not Kerry, if you compare both of their foreign policies (for example the outsourcing issues), which just proves how misinformed you guys are;
10 ) Bush is not the source of all of your personal problems; computer nerds are born weird, that is why they end up doing what they do.

I really think that you should stick to programming, at which you are good. Politically you guys suck badly.

First off, i think it's actually Usama. Or atleast that's what i hear. Ok, on with the list (lists are fun):

1. Good for you.
2. Again, good for you. Just remember, if you really were stupid, you would probably still be quite sure you were not. I suggest you ask someone who's intelligence you value if you are infact stupid or not.
3. I hope not. But again, it's hard to prove either way.
4. That one i can agree with. Being a politican does require some intelligence, or atleast that you're backed by smart people.
5. Again with the religion...
6. If that's a cheap shot against arnetheduck, i don't think he was born in the US, and as such is disqualified anyway. That being said, most programmers are probably too honest to become good politicans, so i can agree with you there.
7. Cool.
8. Words cut deeper than the sword? Or something like that.
9. Yes, i suppose you probably would just lable us foreigners. I hear most americans can't name many countries outside their own.. I guess we would still go with Kerry thou, since we know Bush will probably invade more countries on false pretenses, we still have hope Kerry won't.
10. Oh, he's not really a personal problem. He's more of a problem for the thousands of people he has killed.. both foreigners and americans. I guess we just don't like murderers.. we're a bit weird that way too huh.

I'll take the opposite tact as in the other thread with Todi, and rather than reason out a response, just state: It's great you're proud to be American, but your response, with its comparison of suicide bombers and P2P developers and wild generalizations about programmers, pushes me in the opposite direction.

Post by boze » 2004-10-31 04:07

Todi, you see, with this type of reply there really is nothing else to discuss, you can't be taken seriously.

DC++ is again opening with an offensive content and, instead of quitting this type of attitude, you guys repeat it, flame and make fun of whomever complaints about it, and think that this is the correct thing to do with everyone that uses your program. In your reply you are implicitly calling me and a large part of the American people stupid, you must think that this is an amusing joke. Also, I really don't know where you or the rest of the DC++ staff is from and, even if I knew, it really wouldn’t change any aspect of my opinion. I do not know who arnetheduck is either.

I really think that your political views are preposterous and ill-tempered when you call Bush a mass murderer. But then you think that I am stupid anyway, which brings me to the first thing I just said.

You guys must think that you have the right to punish your users because, in your head, you are in a position of power since you made the program and we use it. As I already said, I think that the DC++ staff is composed by arrogant people with no political aptitude but with a very big need to be hostile to their users.

Like many other people have said: If you dislike something in DC++, simply stop using it. We can't force you.

What do you define as a massmurderer? Isn't it Bush who ordered the attack on Iraq? Or that doesn't "count" as a massmurderer?

arnetheduck is the creator of DC++.

What was that offensive content again, telling you that the website adress isn't available from outside the US? Ouch, offensive for sure.

Everyone has a right to his or her attitude, right? I thought that was the whole reason for the war in Iraq.. then again, that was probably just another pretense. And as far as you being stupid and possibly a large part of the american people being stupid, that's not very funny, that's just sad. I still hold on to my hope that it isn't true.

boze wrote:I really think that your political views are preposterous and ill-tempered when you call Bush a mass murderer. But then you think that I am stupid anyway, which brings me to the first thing I just said.

Actually, only one person has power to "punish his users" with the popup, and that's arnetheduck. Nobody else here on the "staff" (unpaid staff btw) has any power over that, we only take care of the fallout. Sorry to disappoint you.

Krauthammer is especially articulate when dissecting the state of our allies and the Middle East. No matter your political persuasion or worldview, films such as this help perpetuate the debate.

As with "Fahrenheit," however, the key question is: How much of it is actually true?

and I can't say it seems educational.. it seems more like entertainment and more one-sided views of the issues at hand.

uhm.. google turned up facts on the outsourcing issue here:
http://www.indiareacts.com/archivedebates/nat2.asp?recno=856&ctg=World wrote:Early in the race for winning the Democratic primary, Kerry, a Vietnam veteran and Left-leaning anti-Iraq-War campaigner, spoke against outsourcing jobs to India. This got the editorialists? goat. First, the administration of George W.Bush played down any deep impact of outsourcing on the US economy or jobs, stressing the benefits of free trade, but eventually buckled, under election pressure. The administration has now brought a law banning outsourcing from any federal contracts to the private sector.

let's forget the following part for a while....
http://www.indiareacts.com/archivedebates/nat2.asp?recno=856&ctg=World wrote:A US presidential commission did support outsourcing, but the Democratic party played it up to Bush?s embarrassment. Hence the new law. But an internal study made by the Indian ambassador to the US, Lalit Mansingh, says that the pressure on outsourcing will only last for the duration of the presidential elections, and that whoever is elected will be compelled to accept the benefits of outsourcing.

instead.. I'd like to point out the fact that most devs I know, live in the western world and hardly recieve any benefits from US outsourcing as we're just as expensive as US workers.

you're more than welcome to provide different aspects of foreign policy that would make us favor Bush over Kerry though.

I'm kind of curious where the charges of implicit accusations of stupidity come from. At worst, this would be just another political ad; swing state voters have been bombarded by them. Do you think Both Bush and Kerry consider you stupid? (If you do, great, and that's even more interesting, but it seems to be an otherwise oddly inconsistent position acting as a rather thin basis for much of the rest of your ranting.)

As far as opposing films to F9/11: I made this a while ago, when someone else suggested something similar. Fahrenhype 9/11, at least, is pretty laughable. Its more ... stately ... veneer than F9/11 because it can fall back on patriotism, but that's about it.

Can someone explain to me why bush wouldn't want people to see a pro bush site? Ever think they have a good reason, such as i dunno something having to do with security? Kerry wanted only negative ads against him censored, he also wanted to censor a book that had him on the cover with the American flag upside down and mocking American heroes. So where is your outrage at that? Furthermore, what the hell is the legitimate reason for that censorship? You guys are honestly pathetic, and it is preventing you from having common sense. And to top it off, you apparently think you have found something important and are going to sway votes with your internet spam.

Edit - Not to mention of all the legitimate things you could complain about Bush doing or not doing, you chose this? It's one thing to be a partisan liberal or conservative but damn. :roll:

I belive that was answered above or in another thread.

We've talked about propaganda before. If you're gonna make statements like that, please provide links to back them up.

It's interesting what some people read into a little thing like pointing out that a website is not available from outside the US.. But it's nice that you realise that there are many things about Bush to legitimately complain about.

Hey guys, In case reality hasn't sunk in yet, the numbers in Ohio don't add up. Bush is our president! Considering 9 out of 10 terrorists supports Kerry (they sure as hell don't like Bush), it's a good thing he didn't become president and outsource our security to countries like France and Russia, Germany, and China all of whom were in kahuts with a mass murder like Saddam. Fortunately your plan to sway votes via bittorent have failed. We're all safer now. :wink:

you might be quite wrong there. Osama's intentions weren't to take over the western society, but to block western (consumer) ideology from penetrating the Islamic countries. what Bush did by invading Irak played right into the hands of Osama. destabilizing the region promotes Jihad-like activity, pushing moderate Islamic folk to more fundamentalist ideals, as can be witnessed in Iraq at the moment.
for an example of the recent past, Khomeini was rather succesful:
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?020916fa_fact2d wrote:This defiant turn against democratic values had been implicit in the writings of Qutb and other early Islamists, and it now shaped the Islamist agenda. The overnight transformation of a relatively wealthy, powerful modern country such as Iran into a rigid theocracy proved that the Islamists' dream was eminently achievable, and it quickened their desire to act.

Bush, and most of his supporters, seem to think that you can forcefully change regimes and global thinking/ideologies in other countries. history has shown us that this isn't the case. dialogue, a much slower process, will - besides possibly achieve the desired effects (one of them being democracy) - at least not piss people with different ideologies off. if you decide to ask why some people/nations hate the US so much, look up the history of US foreign policy to get an answer.

In case you haven´t noticed, terrorists attacked a school in russia, whom shortly thereafter anounced that they reserve the right o hunt and kill terrorists in any country...there´s something about that that makes me think of Bush, but I don´t know...
By the way, don´t act like USA has never supported mass-murderers like Saddam, I´ve eard that you actually gave fundings to Saddam to kill Iranians, to whom you sold guns.
And didn´t CIA help Usama, and train some of his men so that he could kill russians?

And I´ve personally never heard of the French being in kahuts with a massmurderer, who wereyou thinking of?
