Cant see anyone or search

Post by nnicoo » 2005-11-29 18:08

So besides my trouble with setting up my uPnP crap I cant even see anyone in DC++. I can connect, and it says im connected to DC++. I can also join servers, and it states that I an connected to the server, however that is all. It doesn't give the usual babble about the server or show any users on the left. Also, if I try to search, it shows a checked box where the server name should be that I want to include in the search, but no server name shows up there. Also I get no search results.

I am in passive mode right now till I can set up active mode.

Those symptoms are consistent with your ISP limiting the speed at which you connect to DC hubs.

(If you cannot fully join hubs, your UPnP problems really don't matter.)

uhh... how could my ISP limit the speed at which I connect to a hub? It says I'm connected in the bottom corner... soo that doesnt make sense. No matter how long I leave the program on for people still don't show up.

It also shows 0B under shared in the hublist for all hubs.

That behavior is consistent with a type of packet inspection and throttling. If you see "disconnected" and then a reconnection attempt followed by another "disconnected" with every hub you join, then look to your ISP as the culprit.

It's a way of prioritize protocols to keep filesharing traffic from consuming the available bandwidth, or just keep it from being used at all.

Why do they do this?

I don't really want them to post hub addresses, and certainly not pictures of themselves sharing mp3s.
