Setting up DC++.. I dont know anything about computers

Post by bolshin » 2006-09-05 17:45

Hey everyone,
I dont know all this computer lingo and how to work it or anything like that.. I just know my basic stuff. I was told that dc++ is one of the better file sharing programs so I decided to download it. I have version 0.691. When I search for things but nothing comes up on the search display. I tried following the steps that dc++ help gave me but it doesnt work. If anyone could give me a very detailed way to fix this that would be much appreciated

Both of you need to give more info about your configuration. And please, don't use "I have got the same problem" posts. Start your own thread (that is perfectly ok). The reason is the following: You might end up having completely different reasons for your problems. It's impossible to help someone who say's "Help me, I can't search".

As for DC++ search problems - You need to have UDP forwarded (Search the forum, read the FAQ about these terms)

I dont know what you want me to tell you about my configurations or whatever it is you need to know. As I said I dont know much about computers so if you would like to help me (which I really would like your help) you'd need to tell me what you need axactly and how I can get it for you.
Thanks again.

Do you have an external router/firewall or are you using WinXP's software firewall (Are you using WinXP?). Are you using active or passive setup?

If you open a dosprompt (cmd) and run ipconfig you get a IP-number.
Is that the same as the IP you get from this site?.

Ok, have you tried other hubs?, Is it the same in all hubs?. Can you connect to hubs properly?

Ive read it, and did what it told me to do. Still when I search for example "led zeppelin" nothing happens. When I go to the hubs and click on a user and get their file list and download something it said 'empty slot.'

The "Gosh, I really don't understand all your fancy complicated words like com-pu-ter and stuff" attitude is highly irritating.

Laziness, I'm quite tired of people not beeing able to even read, and understand, the slightest bit. Just a "Serve me" attitude.
