TCP Port Forwarding Problem

I have been unable to find a TCP port that works. I had it set on port 1026 for awhile and that worked until i closed DC++ one day. The next time i reopened it, it said the port was in use. Ive tried a variety of other ports ranging from 1024-65000 and each one gives me a "unable to open tcp port" error. Im using windows firewall and port forwarding through that, but i have no other firewall or router.

Ok the problem is there is an application "using that port" and I say that meaning it could be an application or your router stealthing your ports or something more evil and a bit more harder to fix...........it might be a firewall *gasp* lol try cutting off your firewall and make sure you have your router configed correctly, is all else fails go passive

Im directly connected to my dorm network, so as far as i know i dont have a router or have no control over it. I tried turning off windows firewall, still couldnt open any tcp ports. I can still get peoples file lists from the network and download stuff, i just cant search anything, so if i switch to passive mode i still cant search doesnt make a whole lot of difference.

hmmmmm, interesting, so you can "get filelist" and even "download" from file list's but you cant search......let me ask around

the search spy works as well, but when i search for something popular like family guy under anything i dont get any results.

hmmmmm *thinking*......................to be honest my friend I have no idea....in all my 3 - 4+ years of using DC++ I have never come accross anything like that............try finding a hub with pothead in it, hes the smart one, he tought me how to use VS.NET and thats no easy task..........
