Script Request: modification of vcd quality bot

Post by Max_Fischer » 2003-06-28 06:49

Hi, I run a private hub and am hoping someone can modify the vcd quality bot to fit my needs. For reference you can find the bot here:

http://dc.ww-ei.com/Scripts/Counter/download.php?title=VCDQualityBot11

Basically what I want to have it do is have the bot check the website periodically and have it keep a small database of the recent releases. With this database, I would like to be able to announce new "releases" in the main chat. So I guess when it checks the site for the nth time it will check its database to see if there is a new file(s) and if there is then it will drop the older entry(s), add the new entry(s) and immediately "announce" the new release in the main chat. Then repeat the process x minutes later.

I run a regular NMDC hub and feel free to ask any questions if what I'm seeking is unclear. I think a lot of hubs out there would enjoy this potential script as well, but if its too complicated or whatever then thanks for reading/trying.

I'm glad you like the script.

That's a good idea... it would also decrease the bandwidth consumption of the script. In fact, it's such a good idea that v1.2 will include exactly that capability.

Stay tuned, work has stalled while I'm doing another project, but it will pick up again soon.

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely be looking forward to v1.2 then.:) If I may make a few more suggestions:

- For each of the current categories(VCD, DIVX,etc)...let the hub admin be able to turn off a category easily in the script itself. Thus is someone was only interested in announcing divx releases then thats all bandwidth would be used for when checking for new files.

- Include NFO link. That would be amazing but I imagine that can't be done.
