"Webspace" doesnt sound like its a allowed for background-processes, which makes it impossible to run a DC-client on.

example:
[dc.factorygaming.com:4000]

i want it to look like this:
[http://mysite.com/myfolder/dc++SomethingThatFuckingRuns24/7:a big number]

sorry for being vauge.

any web guides or someone who is experianced? or am i looking at it the wronge way and what i want is absolutly IMPOSSIBLE.

just give me an solution that keeps my hub on all day all night 24/7 rock the casba and i don't have to keep my computer on constantly.

note: i don't want to finish the download while my computer is off. i want the hub to RUN while my computer is off..

also scratch the http:// on the example of what i wanted

more like this:
[mysite.com/myfolder/dc++SomethingThatFuckingRuns24/7:PortNumber]

you can't

Post by Erroneus » 2003-01-23 21:12

Unless you have a shell acout were you are allowed to run programs, you can't.... normal webspace on a http server can't be used for this.

It's not 'webspace' you need...

Post by microwiz » 2003-01-24 00:36

To run a DC Hub, you need a machine that is on when the hub is available. Ideally, if the machine could be on all the time, 24/7, that would make the hub most available.

"Webspace" is irrelevant. DC clients connect to computers running DC hubs, not "webspace."

i might add that dc is http is dchub://, secondly when u go on web site, u hava a login called iis user or whatever with the right to read files, not excecute programs, third how the hell do ya think ya gona see the hub or make it start, stop?????

4 hub is a server software.
a server is a computer that serves as a link/provider of a service.

5. read the forum message......... think before u post, just think

omfg!!

YOU CAN'T!!! god damnit get it, you can't run hub software from a homepage, YOU CAN'T run hub software from a homepage...is it that hard to get. A homepage is able run html and maybe asp/php files, but NOT normal exe files.

So you have to leave your PC on, or rent a server somewhere! And not a webserver, but a server were you decide what to run!
