add a -config before .zip and you'll get the xml files.

great, got it all setup, however then i start the service, and then connect to the hub as a SuperOp.. i get the MOTD (a rather large one i'm afraid..), but then i get connection reset. This is the contents of exceptioninfo.txt:

Mon Jul 14 10:57:08 2003
: Unhandled Exception
Code: c0000005
Call stack info:

this only happens when the MOTD is enabled....
It's about 10k - big, yet necessary ;)

if anyone's using linux,
LuaScript.so is corrupt (doesn't include LuaStats.o)
good version is here: http://wza.digitalbrains.com/DC/dchpp/LuaScript.so.bz2

Any chance of a OpCom modification to enable us to block partial nicknames, such as [FC]* - any nick beginning with [FC].

For this reason:
"ATTENTION HUB OWNERS AND OP'S please kick everybody with an FC n front of there names, they are government/copyright people, looking for people sharing copywrited files, so they can prosecute them, please spread this news to whoever you know (they are always sharing 125.23 gigs)"

Dunno about the truth behind this, but it would be nick to have partial nick banning anyway :)

Thanx

I think there's a slim chance that "piracy" hunters will reveal themselves that easily,
but partial nick banning is nice anyway :)

I don't think it'll be in OpCom though.. but somewhere else

would you like regexes or simple wildcard matches?
regexes would be a lot better, a bit slower, and a teensy bit more complicated for the user ;)

Personally i'd preffer wildcard matches.. as i have little experiences with regexes.. and i suck at them :)

If someone could post a guide though.. it would be nice :D

some updates:

http://wza.digitalbrains.com/DC/dchpp/D ... 81.tar.bz2
- now threaded.. read the readme

http://wza.digitalbrains.com/DC/dchpp/H ... 81.tar.bz2
- added blocking specific nicknames by regexes
- added gadget's HubINFO command

http://wza.digitalbrains.com/DC/dchpp/O ... 81.tar.bz2
- added +stats cpu/mem usage for linux
- fixed so commands that do not want parameters (+help/+stats) are only listened to if there comes nothing after (so +statsme to LOG-O-BOT will work)

http://wza.digitalbrains.com/DC/dchpp/S ... 81.tar.bz2
- (new) simple logging of users entering and leaving to a logfile

HubRules-Readme.txt wrote:-- HubRules 1.2 (20030815)
* Changed DCppMinVersion/DCguiMinVersion to DcppMinVersion/DcguiMinVersion and
CheckISP to CheckIsp in the xml settings!
* Fixed a bug that would crash the hub on +plreload HubRules if you use nick
checking
* Added QuickDC tag recognition
* Added NMDCv2 tag recognition
* Added tag recognition for unknown clients. Suggested settings are:
set Strict to TRUE and AllowUnknownTags to TRUE as well. This way you WON'T
allow clients without any kind of tag between angle brackets, but you WILL
allow new clients which adhere to the "<ClientName V:....>" style tag (and
the creators won't have to implement options to fake being a different
client)
* Moved nickchecking to onValidateNick to save bandwidth for denied nicknames
and added RejectMessage (because the motd is not sent this early in the login
process) in which you should specify what naming rules you have
* Added zSearch allowance. With AllowActiveZsearch you have the option of
allowing search bots with a "zSearch[whatever]" (usually
"zSearch[MoGLO]") nick to do one active search before/without sending MyINFO.
Of course only the IPs allowed by DCH++ may do this
* Added +rules/+network/+faq/+sendrules which you know from OpComExtra

Will there be a problem using both OpComExtra and this? What's in OpComExtra that's not in HubRules, and are you planning on moving everything over?

for those wondering about a new opcomextra:
-- changes 0.27-1:20030815
-- * removed -network/-rules/-faq/-sendrules because they're in the HubRules
-- plugin
-- * removed -disconnect because it's in OpCom
--
-- changes 0.25-1:20030606
-- * removed KickCorrection
-- use: Restrictions plugin and disable kick,
-- then use OpCom's +banuser to kick people.. they'll get autowarn'ed
-- * added autowarn for +banuser/+bannick/+banip

no, no problem at all

-- -help, shows all commands available to the user (depends on userlevel)
-- -time, get server time
-- -warn *, send an alert to OpChat as soon as someone with <name> or <ip> enters (cleared immediately)
-- -userinfo, see users login time and IP
-- -ipinfo, see login times and nicknames per IP or IP range
-- -masspm, send a private message from bot_name to all users
-- -chatto, send a chat message to only one user
-- -history, see the last n logins
-- -traceusers, see logins/logouts in either main chat or pm from bot_name
-- -verbose, go into (or out of) verbose mode for ipinfo/userinfo/history

yakko wrote:and are you planning on moving everything over?

yes.. most things at least. especially the ip/userinfo/history should move to a plugin as they are very memory craving. but I'm not especially looking forward to doing that ;)

Dunno if its a memory leak or just the usertable thats so large, but the memory usage has increased over time about 10MB...Anyway to see how large the table is (if not, then in next release?)?

I guess those extra 10meg's were filled by the opcomextra logs?

w00t! I've gotten my server moved from RedHat 7.3 to Debian Unstable and can finally run dch++ on linux. I'm going to get it updated and try and move my hub over to it once I work out how to get the init stuff setup.

BUG

Post by BSOD2600 » 2003-09-03 03:38

BUG in 0.27-2!!

running it locally on my computer (which is reliable unlike the server) I started DCH, logged on then shutdown the service via the service control admin tool. DCH log file says DCH was shutdown, BUT its still running in taskman and using 100% cpu (~70% kernal usage). I try to end the process tree and it says one or more of the processes in the tree could not be ended.

Finally got it killed with Process Explorer by Sysinternals. That was odd.

it's caused by the DnsBl plugin,
and a newer version of SimpleLog that supports +log (I don't think I distributed that one yet).
if you do use dnsbl, make sure you save data before quitting, and do not +plreload it.

I have troubles understanding how those damn threads work. they work fine on linux though.

Seems to work!

+plreload DnsBl doesnt make it hang. Also shutting down does not stall anymore :D

Pretty sure its DCH related and not the script....

Seems after I did a wave up updates from Sedulus (opcom, hubrules, dnsbl, etc) that Webstats broke. Normally, I start DCH++ as a service. Now when I try I get, "The DCH++_kkhub service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 7 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action." The log file has:
2003-09-17 12:55:51: LuaScript: Loaded Scripts/WebStats.lua

If webstats.lua is removed from luascript.xml, then the hub can startup just fine as a service. Here is the real catch though. With Webstats enabled, DCH++ will start from the console with no errors!

Now how does one explain that?

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I was in Italy for a while, then moved house when I got back :)

Anywho, WebStats has had several problems since I added the user stats. I'm running the old version still and have no problems as I haven't had time (and won't for the foreseeable future) to look into solving the bugs in the later version. You could try switching back to the hub stats only version, or have a bodge at the code and try and find what's wrong with the new one :)
