Ok my request is simple. Matching queue with exact bytesize, name doesn't matter.

The thing is that people name their files differently, and then the match queue setting in use at the moment totally fails.

I can't believe how it's possible that this hasn't been implemented yet. Everything would be so much easier.

Now I have to do it like this: get file list, then mouse2 each file that is the same as in my queue but different name and download to -> choose the file. It works that way but it isn't too practical.

Get this done and downloading will be so much easier. Please.

what about different rar archives, that are splitted up in 50 or 15 mb files from different groups and releases!?

everything would have been a mess, believe me

Well let me ask another question then, are the splitted rar files exactly the same file size, exactly the same number of bytes?

If they are then my proposal has some problems indeed.

Well that is a problem I didn't think of, but I think this kind of system is still possible with some tweaking and some advanced options to work this problem out.

But I'm not a coder, so I'd like to see if anyone else has ideas relating to this, since if it could be possible it would be great.

There should of course be an option to choose filesize based match queue or filename/filesize based as it is now.

And for a fail safe there could be and window opening when clicking "Match Queue" with filesize mode on. The window would then show the files that are being added to the queue and you could check/uncheck file there if you like.

I think this is a possibility and I'd like to hear from coders perspective what kind of difficulty this has.

Other ideas are of course still welcome

Also please read up on hashes... They will uniquely identify the same file, and they're closer than any size based matching scheme. They're still a ways off, please be patient or pick up C++ and help.

Ok I'll check this hashes-thing, it would be great to have a working system to identify files, other than filenames (and other than filesize too when downloading rar-archives)

Thanks for the info, I am patient. The current manual system (mouse2+download to->add to file) works, it's just a bit slow when adding lots of files to queue

And to cyberal: changing my download behaviour is not possible.

That's because people share their files in full files, not rar-archives. Not always of course, but usually stuff is not in rar-archives.

Sometimes I get something in rar-archives and yeah that's easy, since match queue works and "automatic alternate download location search" works, but that's quite a seldom occasion when the stuff is in rar's.

You're allowed to edit your posts in the Help/Support and the Programmer Help forum. Presumably those two were the only ones that needed it in when Arne's set them up
