Socks only for Downloads ?!

Post by Kriki2 » 2003-11-13 12:26

Here is my problem @ first:
I have to download over a Socks5 with does not support UDP (University Proxy). Therefor each time when i want to connect/reconnect to a hub i have to go in active/passive mode and afterwards back to Socks. Now, when I'm not at home and the connection to the hub is reseted, my downloads are killed.

Now my questions:

Is it possible to change the code, that the connections to the hubs are made in active/passive mode and the connection to the users over the Socks ?

Which files are involved in making the connections and choosing which mode is used ?

Thanks, Kriki

This has nothing to do with Protocol :)

If you want it for yourself, I'll punt it to the Programmer's Help forum!

Alternately, you could just see if BCDC has the behavior you want... I believe it does.

(i.e. Proxy hub connections, go direct with socks)

Some hubs enforce an IP check, so that the $ConnectToMe argument is the same as the IP you're connecting with. Just be warned that the technique will not work everywhere.
