Download prioriter

Post by si_ok » 2003-11-17 23:50

we all know multiple downloads are slower. it would be nice to have a feature that automatically switches downloads when a higher priority one becomes available. for example, i log into a hub and i see 5 ppl queued and one begins transferring say a big movie. but there is another file i want more that becomes available, so they both get transferred at the same time, but what i really want is for one to cancel as soon as the higher priority download becomes available so this means that the higher priority get downloaded first.

this is really useful for 56k users :) anyone not understand plz post

atm I think downloads on highest priority will start when a slot becomes available, maybe there could be an option to disconnect the lowest priority download when this happens?

good point my friend, a option to keep x high priority downloads, and disconnect the lower priority ones :) nice thinking, short 'n' sweet.

And a sub prio based on the numbers of avail sources and the size. Smaller files first. (Markov chain-queue theory you know...) Will give lower average queue times.
