Need Help with video-playback problem

Post by OlePole » 2003-12-26 12:42

Hallo everyone,

I keep having a strange problem when trying to play an avi (e.g. nemo, friends, 8-mile).
At first the videosceen is completely green and after a couple of seconds the picture gets VERY fuzzy. Impossible to watch the movie. At first I thought it was a corrupt file. But i now had this problem with three different video-files. I have the "Nemo Codes Pac" with all the common codecs installed and i am running WinXP Pro.

Has Anyone come accross this prob before? I am really clueless what it could be.

Thanxs for any suggestions

Ole

Instead of using a codec pack, go get GSpot, identify the codec on that video file, then download the latest version of it.

If you use Media Player Classic (Not the same as Media Player 6.x - the microsoft product), you can see which video filter it uses for decoding by right clicking in the playback area. If necessary, you can even override codec selection under Options.

Get both pieces of software and play around with them for a while, I think you should be able to either fix your problem or eliminate codecs as the source of your problem.
