User ISP detecting.
Would it be possible to add a hub user ISP detection feature? I'm sure it would be useful for many, I myself get about 20x faster download speeds from a users with whom I share the same ISP, for the obvious reasons. Also, sorry if this has been asked before or if it's just a crappy/impossible to implement idea. Thanks.

What would you rather do.. download with 16kB/s from your cable neighbour, or 256kB/s from me? The idea is rather crappy ;)

What are you talking about?
Chances are he and his neighbor have the same connection tot he internet. There would therefore be no speed mismatch bottleneck and no commodity Internet bottlenecks either.
If he choses to download from someone in his own ISP he will get better results the vast majority of the time, and the rest of DC will also be improved.

Internet2
I am on Internet2 (www.internet2.edu). I notice I get really nice fast connections if another user is on Internet2 as well. It would be great to be able to be able to choose them from among other, more likely slower users when I search.

yup, and quite often upload speed is less than download speed.volkris wrote:Chances are he and his neighbor have the same connection tot he internet.
for example: a cable user with 16kB up and 128kB down.. from his neighbour he'll only get 16kB, while he can get the whole 128 from someone with a fat line.
