Suppose you were to recieve a check for 20 G's tomorrow. The only conditions are that you must reimburse the lender the initial investment plus a 20% R.O.R. within 1 Year. You can invest it however you like, but dont forget it's not yor money, and lets say for fun, he will break your legs should you default on the loan repayment in exactly one year. What would you do?

That depends in what LEGAL things you want to invest in.....
And the fact that breaking your legs is an issue and you need cash fast?
I would surjest something along the lines of ILLEGAL things....
Hope you catch my drift.

I would give that check back and go look for a certified lender offering an interest rate of around 11% or so..
Oh wait, I get the question I think. Lets see.. Probably cash out, fly to Puerto Rico and live comfortably on the beach for the remainder of my days.

Live... comfortably... for the remainder of your days... On $20,000?
Are you terminally ill?

If he's not going to pay it back, I suspect his life may be short once the guy comes looking for his money.

with no serious conclusion to the initial question that was asked, IMHO anyways. but from what i can tell, such is the way of this forum sometimes.

Oh, you wanted serious investment advice? Um, dump it all into a mutual fund. Fidelity or TDWaterhouse. They used to get at least a 12% return, but these days that's not true.

The nature of the initial question seemed to imply a non-serious response. If you wanted serious responses you should have been more explicit.

I think he was just trying to spark some conversation like Sam2009 (or whatever his name was) used to try doing (although without all the flaming). AFAIK you'd have to do something pretty hardout to make the 20% that the guy wants in return let alone be able to have much fun or make money from the project.
