Is DC++ what i'm looking for ?

what im after doing is starting up a private network for filesharing. I do have a perm 24/7 connection so could run a server(hub) if needed. I dont want just anyone to access it, only those that I allow. Is this possible with this software and what would I need to do it. I have downloaded the client app I think, but does this also have a hub(serverside) built in ? If DC++ isnt what i'm looking for can anyone recommend something.

No, DC++ is only a client (well, technically it's a server too, but not like you mean). You need to run a Hub on your computer, so that the users you want can connect to it with a Client (DC++ for instance).
